A merch station built for choice
At this Rose Bowl activation, the product was only half the draw. Guests could choose among artwork inspired by the 1980s, rock and roll, neon color, and kid-friendly graphics, then watch a Merch Troop operator apply the selected design to a Tultex tee. The event plan allowed for up to 600 shirts across two garment styles, so the station needed both variety and repeatable production.
How the three-station line worked
Three commercial heat presses ran in parallel under a covered outdoor footprint. Artwork was staged by design, blank shirts were sorted within reach, and each press had a clear production zone. That division kept selection, pressing, cooling, and handoff from collapsing into one crowded table. The crew worked from 3:00 to 10:00 p.m., giving the activation a full seven-hour service window.
Why DTF fit this event
DTF transfers made the large, full-color artwork practical on-site. Unlike a one-color live screen-print setup, the same press could apply a detailed rock graphic, a bright neon design, or a family-oriented option without an ink changeover. For planners, that means more guest choice without multiplying the equipment footprint. See how DTF compares with other formats on our live DTF printing service page.
The planning takeaway
Outdoor venue work rewards simple, redundant systems. Covered stations protected the presses and transfer staging, parallel equipment reduced the impact of any single slowdown, and the visible design menu helped guests decide before reaching an operator. If your event has a broad audience, a curated artwork menu can feel personalized while still moving like a production line.
