The challenge
A two-day trade show at the Las Vegas Convention Center, August 10 and 11, 2026, booked a live patch bar at an exhibitor's booth. The plan was built for up to 200 guests a day, through two eight-hour show days.
The activation
Every guest got a black travel bag and built their own look from generic patches, mixing and matching several on one bag. Merch Troop shipped the bags to the client ahead of the show and ordered the patch stock in advance. On site, a two-person team loaded in at 8 a.m. and ran the bar from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, with two heat presses at either end of a long patch tray. Guests picked, the crew placed and pressed. The booking came to 18 hours with setup and teardown.
The result
Generic patches need no art approval, and each guest's mix is their own, so no two bags have to match. On a trade show floor, that's the simplest version of a patch bar: one bag style, a deep tray of generic patches, two presses and two people.
