The challenge

A company event at its San Mateo office on July 15, 2026 booked a tote bar for 150 guests. The brief was layered: the company logo on the bag, an event patch, and room for people to make the bag their own.

The activation

Three elements were prepared. A 9-inch DTF print of the company logo, one per tote. A custom sublimated patch with the event logo, 3.5 by 1 inches, one per guest. And generic patches in random designs, to mix and match on a bag. Merch Troop supplied the 150 canvas totes and applied the decoration on site with a two-person team and two machines. The client provided the table, and the crew loaded in through the building's loading dock and freight elevator.

The result

Everything was ready before the day, so the client could settle the final mix late. Each option had its transfers or patches on order, including a new version of the event logo ordered the day before. The booking ran 11 hours with setup and teardown.

Questions

Can you build something like this for another brand?

Yes. The exact method changes by artwork, traffic, venue, and guest profile, but the production model is repeatable.

Can this be adapted for a trade show booth?

Yes. Most case-study formats can be scaled into booth, lounge, or sponsor footprint versions.

Can you combine live and pre-produced merch?

Yes. Hybrid activations are often the best way to balance speed, premium options, and budget.
