The challenge

A five-day event in Huntington Beach, spread over two weekends: July 25 and 26, then July 31 through August 2, 2026. The plan was about 600 guests a day, 3,000 in all, and a bandana printed live for each of them. The client supplied the bandanas, 22 inches square.

The activation

This job was live screen printing from start to finish, in a booth on the sand. Three staff ran three screen-print machines, printing a one-color design centered on each bandana, 18 by 18 inches, from three approved designs. The screens were made before the first day, and black ink was bought for the run. The plan called for 100 bandanas an hour over each six-hour day, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Load-in started at 7 a.m. on opening day, and the heavy equipment was shipped in for the activation.

The result

The numbers were set before day one: 100 bandanas an hour, three presses, six hours a day, five days, and a three-person crew on all five.

Questions

Can you build something like this for another brand?

Yes. The exact method changes by artwork, traffic, venue, and guest profile, but the production model is repeatable.

Can this be adapted for a trade show booth?

Yes. Most case-study formats can be scaled into booth, lounge, or sponsor footprint versions.

Can you combine live and pre-produced merch?

Yes. Hybrid activations are often the best way to balance speed, premium options, and budget.
