The challenge

A back-to-school event on a corporate campus in Redmond on September 15, 2026 had 60 guests and a short live window, 3:45 to 6 p.m., about two and a quarter hours. The client supplied everything that got decorated: navy hats or canvas bags, and its own patches. What it needed from Merch Troop was a crew and presses.

The activation

The brief was heat press only. Two staff applied the client's patches on site, and guests could add letter patches to spell out initials or a name. Guests picked from a table spread with patches, chose where each one went, and the crew pressed them onto the hat or bag. The schedule gave load-in the whole early afternoon, 1 p.m. up to the 3:45 start, with load-out from 6 to 8 p.m. The booking covered 60 pieces.

The result

When the client brings the goods and the patches, the job is all application. Two people and their presses were booked for 60 guests in a window of just over two hours, with the long load-in doing the setup work before anyone arrived.

Questions

Can you build something like this for another brand?

Yes. The exact method changes by artwork, traffic, venue, and guest profile, but the production model is repeatable.

Can this be adapted for a trade show booth?

Yes. Most case-study formats can be scaled into booth, lounge, or sponsor footprint versions.

Can you combine live and pre-produced merch?

Yes. Hybrid activations are often the best way to balance speed, premium options, and budget.
